Excellent entry-level model - best value
It used to be that Sky and Telescope – type magazines would tell you to stay away from department store telescopes. This was certainly true of the old 60-mm plastic refractors. Meade 114 reflector telescope OK
The 114 reflector telescope is a nice beginner scope(certainly MUCH better than the typical 60mm scopes that come out at Christmas). I used this for a while but upgraded to an ETX model.
