Very good computer speakers. Acceptable, but not outstanding for music

I bought these on sale for only $8, and for that price this is a truly nice set of speakers. They replaced a higher end set of speakers with a subwoofer, which I had swapped with my wife. I could immediately tell the audio clarity on these was not as good. In comparison to my previous speakers, they sounded a little muffled when listening to music. If I turn the tone control up all the way, music is acceptable through them, and better than most speakers that sell for under $20.
They look nice, and the speakers are quite sturdy and well made. The power supply is enclosed inside, rather than having to use an external power brick, like most other designs. (I have a collection of orphaned power bricks and devices that have been separated from them)
At the usual selling price, you can probably find something else that will do better for music. If you find these on sale, and are looking for a really good set of basic speakers, this is a nice set.
