A Nice Surprise
Pros
Comfortable, base acts as a hand rest, uses thumb instead of index finger.
Cons
Not wireless, no scroll wheel or slider.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Refreshing use of "non-mouse" fingers. Wish it had a scroll wheel and wireless option.
I didn't know what to expect from this design, but I'm pleasantly surprised. Very comfortable and natural feeling. Base acts as a hand rest, something the evoluent doesn't have. Rocker thumb switch allows me to rest my worn out index clicking finger. the third button acts similar to a scroll wheel, but I would of prefered a scroll wheel as some programs don't recognize this button feature. When will anyone create a wireless solution?
If you prefer a scroll wheel, I'd recommend the Evoluent, it has a more familar feel and the scroll wheel, although, you are using the same worn out index finger. Similar footprint as oppose to the quill which takes up more deskspace, although it has a hand rest, but my desk is clean, so having my hand rest on the desk is not an issue.
The 3M is not a joystick, you drag it like a mouse. sometimes pictures are hard to visualize the functionality. with the base acting as a hand rest, and using a thumb verses my typical mouse fingers is a refreshing option. Didn't experience any problems with the thumb controls, although I could potentially see having my thumb get weary, but then I can always switch to my evoluent. (Yes, I have both).
Hope this is helpful.
Now if one of these manufactures are smart, they'd create a wireless device.
