Security, elegant slim design, powerful laptop with 17" of beautiful real estate.

The Bottom Line:
Sometimes using the low cost supplier costs more than mere price alone. Yes, it cost more initially, but the later hassles are greatly reduced IMHO.
I decided to purchase this 17" PowerBook because I liked the large screen vs. other models. I purchased before the announcement that Apple would move to Intel processors by 2006.
Would I purchase this laptop after the announcement? Possibly...
It is still a very elegantly designed laptop with many features not found on any other offering. Backlight keyboard display, Superdrive CD/DVD reading/burning are really nice. OS/X vs. Windows is a real plus to many users. Note: I make my living supporting Windows servers and their OSs, but prefer to use MAC OS with the design and mainly more secure OS used by OS/X. OS/X is mainly BSD UNIX wrapped in an elegant user interface. It is generally very stable and less prone to being the target of Windows 'script kiddies' vs. the large install base of the Windows install base.
IMHO, unless you have a very specific need to run Windows only software that cannot run via emulation (such as VPC), OS/X should meet almost every need.
If you want or need an elegant laptop such as this one, you will be happy should you choose this model.
