No
The Bottom Line:
$1000 TV lasted 13-months. Only 12-month warranty. Were told by their authorized service center that TV is unrepairable-can't get parts from Apex. Service technician reported numerous complaints.
DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM APEX! I purchased this TV for my husband for Christmas, 12/19/04. The TV was in our bedroom and only watched occasionally--not every day. After 13 months, the picture suddenly went black. I have sound but no picture. We called Apex and talked with their service dept. They were difficult to understand (heavy foreign accent). They told us to unplug the TV set, wait a couple minutes and plug it back in. The TV picture came back on but in less than 2 minutes, the picture went black again. I could hear it but had no picture. We were instructed to take the TV to an authorized Apex repair shop, which we did.
The technician at the repair shop told us it was unrepairable. They told us the TV needs a new LCD panel/display kit, but they cannot get the part from Apex because the part is no longer available. Even if we could get the part, the cost would be quite high. For a TV that is watched only 8 hours per week-MAXIMUM-and at a cost of $1000 (on sale), this TV should not be unrepairable. We are so upset, and feel we have been ripped off. Of course, the warranty is only good for 12 months.
I urge everyone to NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM APEX. You will waste your money. The repair technician told us they have had a number of these TVs and other Apex products come in for repair. However, they cannot repair them, usually because they cannot get parts from Apex, or because the cost would exceed the price of the TV or appliance.
There should be a law against this type of consumer ripoff.
