The Bottom Line:
If given the chance to do it again, I would purchase this unit. No complaints.
I have had this receiver for about 3 months and am completely satisfied with it's performance and operation.
I had initially coupled this receiver with the Bose AC-6 speaker system but quickly upgraded to the Polk RM-6800.
The audio quality of this receiver is outstanding and transparent. The power rating is very conservative and has plenty of headroom for home theater use. If you're looking for accurate reproduction, this is a good choice.
Operation is fairly straightforward although there is a bit of learning curve. The EZ-Setup with included microphone takes most of the guesswork out of setting up your speakers.
When used in 5.1 mode, this receiver can be operated multi-zone. This means that the 2 unused speaker channels can drive a remote set of speakers, and these speakers can listen to a different source than the main speakers. I can be watching a movie in 5.1 while my deck speakers are playing a CD, or listening to the radio. It comes with a 2nd remote but requires the remote extender ($80.00) to use in a different room.
Note that this unit has no video up-converter. A downside to some, but not needed in my configuration.
