The Bottom Line:
I would buy this unit again, the value! It is a $1299 retail unit, selling for $699. Harmon Kardon has one of the strongest warranties on the market.
I did a lot of research, this appears to be the best value for the money. $699 at Circuit City. The receiver has an internal fan to keep things cool, a remote that lights up, and seems to have enough power 75 watts. The auto speaker setup is cool. Only one problem, the owners manual sucks. It is complicated and has not enough pictures or explainations. And initial set up is confusing if you are not an audio freak. It can be frustrating! Harmon-Kardon does have tech help but not a 1800 number. Harmon-Kardon is aware their manuals are weak, but looking over previous years and models I dont expect them to improve. I have to say I hope to figure it out as this is only my first couple of days with the unit. I feel the FM tuner could be a little better it does not pull any station at all with the included antenna, and a dipole is not much better. I feel this receiver will need an outdoor or quality indoor antenna. But I bought this unit for movies, not for FM only, and as for the sound. The sound is terrific with the Polk rm6750 set up and I have ordered two more Polk speakers to see what 7.1 sounds like.
