Better get the extended warranty!!

Reasonably priced, relatively easy to install and requires no changes to current stereo system

The Bottom Line:
Get the extended warranty. For a matter of $8-12 I could have walked in to the store handed my broke changer over and been handed a new one.
I purchased this CD changer late October of '01 at Circuit City. I was looking for something that was small and painless to install. I found what I thought was a great deal when I saw the Awia ADC-FM-60. It had the size I needed, a remote changer control and even a credit card remote. I paid $170 for the unit, foregoing the exteneded warranty.
Installation is easy if you know anything about car stereos or if you are able to take your car's dash apart and read instructions. The instructions are very plain and to the point, leaving little room for errors. After a brief 45 minutes, I had the unit working and i was busy chosing my 6 favorite discs.
The moral of the story, don't trust the brand as I did. Any quality brand can break and you'll be left waiting for it or worse, waiting for it and paying to fix it.
I quickly began to enjoy the changer and the long (about 6-10 second) disc change time did not bother me. The unit worked flawlessly for right at 103 days. On day 104, I tried to play a disc and got an "ERR03" flashing at me. I swapped discs and cleaned the unit and things seemed good for another week or so. Again, I began to experience the same problem. I called Circuit City and explained the problem and was told that because I didn't get the warranty, I would have to pay to have them troubleshoot and fix it. I called Awia. They were nice enough to tell me who to send it to and that it would be fixed under warranty. I sent it in to the repair shop and I am still waiting to get it back. Hopefully it will be in good working condition for the next few years because 4 weeks to get a changer fixed is too long.
