Good Features, But Won't Last

I recently found the Aiwa AM-HX30 at a below-market price ($150, The Wiz--New York, Feb 2000), and at that level it's a great value. But beware if you're thinking of spending $200 or more on this thing.
Aiwa has put together a nice package for the price--it's a great value. The thing is packed with every playback feature I can think of (megabass, 40-sec skip, etc.), including some that are seemingly useless (you can scroll through track names while listening to the current track). The remote interface is also good, with a large, legible screen. And the piece looks very respectable with its clean, brushed-aluminum finish.
So, looks and features are pluses.
However, at $150, this player is not too good to be true: you get what you pay for with poor workmanship. Just handle the machine and you'll see that it's not well-built at all. The battery door looks like it'll break in a couple months (especially when you have to remove the battery to recharge it every day). And the remote is flimsy at best. Most importantly, the MD insert mechanism is already temperamental--it snags once in a while.
If you're thinking of buying this MD player, you're gonna have to weigh good looks and features with poor quality. Personally, I'm gonna return mine and pick up a Sony that I won't have to baby.
