Fantastic value, quality player!
Like many people looking for portable minidisc players, my first thought was to go with Sony - afterall, MiniDisc is their technology, so you'd think it was the best. I'd bought a Sony MiniDisc deck for recording and titling, so all I wanted was a portable player. My local Richer Sounds (where I... Read full review »
Small and Convenient, Excellent Quality, Great Features
Mini Discs are the cutting edge in portable audio products, and this player far surpasses portable CD players in sound quality, and convenience. The player is small enough to fit in your pocket, and has a very handy control extension that can clip anywhere you want to allow you to control the... Read full review »
Music Pirates!! Your savior (jk)
When I was first introduced to minidisc technology, I was actually looking for a Sony; the benchmark of all electronic software that is mainstream and rather cheap J, yet I was rather upset when I drifted over to my local Myer Emco, I was disheartened to see that they were all backed up for several... The best portable minidisc player
This is possibly the best portable walkman around. It is incredibly small and offers unparrallel sound and convenience. remote control unit fits naturally in the listener's hand, and clearly displays the disc
name, track name and number, and operating conditions. And the backlit display is easy...

Nice offering, but lacks refinement
After toting around my Sony MZ-R70 around for a couple of weeks, it became apparent that the longer I used it as a primary playback unit, the more likely I was to do something silly like drop it and break it. Also, I had accidentally pressed the record button several times, taping over songs... Read full review »
Fabulous Sound, Great Size..
The price of the Aiwa MD HX30 was really right. It came free with a book case stereo system. The sound is incredible. I always blow people away with "Sunny Came Home." It shows off the incredible bass and clear acoustics. The size is terrific. It slips into any pocket and the remote does not have... Read full review »
Good Features, But Won't Last
I recently found the Aiwa AM-HX30 at a below-market price ($150, The Wiz--New York, Feb 2000), and at that level it's a great value. But beware if you're thinking of spending $200 or more on this thing.
Aiwa has put together a nice package for the price--it's a great value. The thing is...

Fun While It Lasted
I bought this unit to replace my first MD player, the Sharp 301, which I've already reviewed here. The Sharp only lasted 12 months before dying, and I'm afraid to admit that the Aiwa didn't do much better. Michael Lee's "Good Features, But Won't Last" review is right on the money, as far as I'm... A great little machine
I got this player for myself because I had a MiniDisk Deck, and I wanted a portable player for the go. If you have MD recording ability, I highly recommend this item. First off, it is very small: about three MD's thick! The remote is one of the best I've seen, including a very cool backlight. The... Read full review »
