Yes
The Bottom Line:
Best for the money in the receiver world.
Aiwa has put out an incredibly affordable receiver that has plenty of "punch" for the price. The AV-S17 flows clean treble and bass from its massive 100w * 2 body. Check out the back of the receiver and you'll find just as many AV jacks as many of the higher grade "mega watt" receivers.
With three video functions who can resist hooking their VCR and DVD up for home theater atmosphere. Except for the tuner, the decibel levels adjust to an 8db max in each function, eliminating that inconsistent volume while switching between different components. There are five tone levels available and five personal ambiance changes ranging from rock, bmg, jazz, pop, and classical. A powered sub-woofer is always a plus, especially when you want the receiver to concentrate totally on the channels for the main speakers. An amplifier might be a good investment, since the receiver is priced so low, just in case you want to entertain some guests. The huge dials for function changing and volume give the Aiwa AV-S17 an interesting bulky look that totally reminds me of the late 70's early 80's. Ahhh, and yes, who can forget the two features that make you energy conscious, while at the same time prolong the life of your electronic components, the ECO mode, and the sleep timer.
Now, if that's not a deal than I don't know what is, so I'm recommending this receiver for anyone that wants to pick up some power for less than $150.
