Good MP3 CD deck for the average listener

bydsmeyer Mar 15, 2002

Pros Good price, Plays MP3s, Faceplate automatically hides, Powerful Sound
Cons Too bright at night, Skips terribly, Controls could be more intuitive.
Recommended it? No

I drive a 1994 GM automobile that came with a Delco factory FM/AM cassette head unit. Listening to the radio was getting too boring. And I wasn't about to hook up a portable CD walkman up to my cassette deck just to be able to hear a limited selection of songs. That was just too ugly. I wanted... Read full review »

Decent unit for the money; some shortfalls

byzwerski Mar 30, 2004

Pros Cheap, steering wheel remote, plays MP3 discs, hides itself when off.
Cons Skips, skips, skips, skips...
Recommended it? Yes

This unit was installed in my 2001 Jeep Wrangler about a year ago, and I am pleased overall with the unit. The biggest headache with this model is the unending skipping that is compounded by my Jeep's super-stiff suspension and short wheel base which makes the ride choppy.

My solution to... Read full review »

A great unit for the price

bynintenduc Dec 10, 2002

Pros Low price, folding face, easy to read display
Cons Folding face can jam, MP3s restart when car shut off, skips, can't randomize across...
Recommended it? Yes

For the budget-conscious consumer, the Aiwa CDC-MP32 is a great choice. The folding flap never fails to impress passengers (though its value as a theft deterrent probably isn't high). It does what you'd expect from a basic MP3 player: display ID3 tags, offer random play, ability to organize songs... Read full review »

Aiwa Skips Too Much

bywiper Oct 21, 2002
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Nice steering wheel remote
Cons Sensitive to skipping
Recommended it? No

I just replaced my first MP3 player, an Aiwa CDC-MP32, with the Sony CDX-MP30 and I am very satisfied. The Aiwa was very sensitive to rough road skipping, which I originally attributed to my Miata's short wheelbase, but with the Sony NONE of the old places I'd encounter on the way to work effect... Pros Attractive to the eye, ear, and pocketbook
Cons Seek time on MP3 files can be discouraging
Recommended it? Yes

It's amazing how difficult it can be to find the right reciever for a car stereo. I mean, come on! The choices are seemingly limitless. There's FM, AM, XM, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CD, CDC, SO MANY FEATURES!!! It makes one want to assume the fetal position and scream. And to add to all of the existing... Read full review »

Skip skip skip skip

bycs577 Jan 12, 2003
6 Helpfuls 7 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Looks cool, great security feature, decent interface, good sound
Cons Skips HORRIBLY, no pause button, mp3s start at beginning when restarting car
Recommended it? No

This mp3 player would be great if it didn't skip like it does. No matter a data cd of mp3s or an audio cd, the player will skip. The sad part is that one does not even have to be going over a bump to have the player skip--it will skip for no reason! The cds I am referring to have no scratches on... Read full review »

Great value, glad I got it

byaguada99 Sep 11, 2002

Pros Inexpensive, plays MP3/CD/CDR/CDRW, 50Wx4 and the disappearing face
Cons Colors a little bright, may skip going over big pot holes
Recommended it? Yes

I first went looking for a new receiver for my old '90 Jetta, which I would be driving to school. Aiwas had my attention because of their aux port, which most other brands did not have. I wanted a receiver that played CDs, and could play MP3s and minidiscs but one I did not have to break my piggy... Read full review »

Pros Plays MP3s, Many features, Retracting front panel, looks good
Cons Slow, Occasionally skips, Sometimes has trouble with scratched Cds
Recommended it? Yes

The CDC-MP32, Aiwa's second model of their car MP3 player is a great attempt at an emerging technology. Let's start at the beginning. Turning the car's key to the on position makes the little black faceplate automatically flip away in a process that never fails to impress. The unit comes on,... Read full review »

I will never buy an Aiwa again

bydanbr0wn Aug 28, 2002
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Really cool retractable faceplate, wireless steering wheel remote
Cons Cheaply made, breaks easily
Recommended it? No

I bought the Aiwa CDC-MP32 five months ago. For the first two months I was satisfied with its performance, until that really "cool" retractable faceplate FELL OFF, left dangling by only a flex cable. Luckily it was still under warrantee and I shipped it to a local service center for repair. The guy... Read full review »

Pros MP3,Black Panel Face Plate,Price,Steering Wheel Mounted Remote
Cons Slow load time for MP3's
Recommended it? Yes

I recently purchased a used car and it did not include a CD player. Just about all of my friends bought Sony head units which are all great but I wanted something more original.

I was willing to spend up to $300 on a unit alone and I was looking at several models. The first two models... Read full review »
