Skip skip skip skip
Pros
Looks cool, great security feature, decent interface, good sound
Cons
Skips HORRIBLY, no pause button, mp3s start at beginning when restarting car
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
This mp3 player would be great if it wasn't for the horrible skipping, which makes this a head unit that no one should buy. Get your car mp3 player elsewhere.
This mp3 player would be great if it didn't skip like it does. No matter a data cd of mp3s or an audio cd, the player will skip. The sad part is that one does not even have to be going over a bump to have the player skip--it will skip for no reason! The cds I am referring to have no scratches on them whatsoever either. It seems that the player skips more on mp3s than audio cds. It also seems to skip more on rewriteable cds than regular cds, but this could be a coincidence.
I bought this player as soon as it came out. The Aiwa CDC-MP3, the predecessor of this, had good reviews, so I thought that this one would be even better. It would be better too if not for the skipping...It must not have any anti-skip protection whatsoever. I bought the player because I am big into mp3s and thought it would be awesome to be able to play mp3s in my car. Unfortunately, the player skips too much to do so. All my friends make fun of it when in my car, no joke!
The security flip down feature is wonderful. I have never worried about getting my stereo stolen because of it. This feature truly is great.
The head unit looks really cool, especially at night. You can turn down the brightness of it if it is too bright for you. The H-Bass feature is also terrific for those who love bass like me. It really kicks in a lot of extra bass.
One annoying thing is that if you are listening to a mp3 and restart your car, the player will start back at the beginning of the mp3. For example, if you are 70 minutes into a 90 minute mp3 and stop the car, you will have to fast forward 70 minutes into that mp3 when you restart your car. This isn't as bad as it seems though.
There is also no pause button. Plan on muting the track and then rewinding if you need to pause.
