Aiwa CDC-X176

I bought this model in may '99. While looking at the display room of Best Buy Stores, this radio caught my attention, perhaps for its colorful display. This looked great at the store, but once installed in my Astro Van it resembled an aging casino marquee right on my dashboard. The sound was ok, however; the cd player skipped too much. After about a month the sound suddenly stopped even though the display showed all the functions as being played. Weird. I took it back to the store and they replaced it with another unit of the same model. After a few weeks of use the mute button took a permanent mode. No sound again. Not only that, after turning the engine power off and removing the faceplate, the cd light stayed on, draining my car battery a couple of times. Finally, I took it back to Best Buy and this time was replaced by another brand name radio. Such a headache.
