The Bottom Line:
If it's going to break everytime you load a CD, hit a rock, or brake hard, why buy it?
I ordered an Aiwa CDC-X417 back in December from Crutchfield. When I received it, all was well except the CD playing part. Either the lens or loading mechanism was bad. So I sent it back, and got another. It worked for two months, then loaded a CD wrong and broke again. I sent it back, and got it repaired. A week later, it broke yet again. I finally gave up and got my money back. I believe that part of the problem was that I off-road some, which may have caused trouble. However, I have friends with Alpines, Sonys, etc., who play loud music all through mudriding and rock bouncing with no trouble at all. This Aiwa was lucky not to skip on a roadbump.
I will give it this: I liked the design of it. It has a pretty cool setup going, easy to use and all. The remote is nice but being wireless must be aimed at the receiver, so you're forced to put it on the right side of the wheel.
The power is decent, to say the least. It was a massive step up over my stock radio. Naturally, the extra power makes all music sound better. However, the constant breaking did not make this unit worthwhile at all.
