The Bottom Line:
Although it enhances sound quality, the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver isn't up to date with the fast growing music technology.
I recently purchased the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver and had it installed it in my girlfriend?s Audi A6. From what she has told me about it, and from the time I?ve spent in the car, I feel that there are more ?cons? than ?pros? and think that there are better CD Receivers on the market.
The one advantage the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver has is that in enhanced the sound quality in her car. The A6 already has great sound and speakers, but the receiver seemed to add more bass and improved the over-all sound quality. If it improved the audio system of her Audi A6, I?m sure it?d do the same for any other car.
Unfortunately, I noticed several downsides of the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver. First of all, I?m a big fan of burning MP3?s onto CD?s. This particular receiver seems to have problems reading the CD?s, and when it does play them, the sound quality is much less than a store bought CD.
Also, when driving on uneven roads, the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver skips whenever the car hits a bump. I don?t know about you, but I find this very annoying.
Overall, I feel that the future of the music industry is MP3?s and burned CD?s. If the Aiwa CDC-X517M CD Receiver can?t keep up with the fast growing market, I think that you should spend the extra money and buy a receiver that will stay in date.
