Cons none
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  This is such a great stereo for the soft "old" Jazz listener or the LOUD rap music listener. User friendly!!
I did not actually buy this product. YET. I tried it out in the store and WHOA it blew me away. The bass is very very powerful at low to moderate volumes and at high volumes, it becomes pleasantly punchy. The woofers look like 61/2inchers and they absolutely do not distort pop etc at ANY volume even with maxium bass. It is very loud and the reason it has 140 watts per channel is that it doesn't go up to MAX volume and distort. I had it ALL the way up and it sounded perfect. At Circuit City?, it is $189. The guy said to try the Sony with a subwoofer but it didnt have as much bass and it couldn't play NEARLY as loud as the aiwa without the speakers popping. If you want a similar stereo to the aiwa 280 watt, there is the identical Aiwa 100w/channel for $149. It is also great sounding. I tried a Panasonic that had similar Bass to the Aiwa, but when i turned it up 1/2 to 3/4, it started distorting (speakers vibrating as much as they possibly can). The only one I liked better than the Aiwa was a JVC with dual woofers in each speaker and 2 subs in each speaker. It was almost $300, not as powerful but had more bass. The system was MUCH bigger, too. The Aiwa was absolutely best, maybe not loudest, but the other ones might have less power that SOUND louder aren't really as loud. But I can't get over thas incredible bass on the Aiwa!! I had it on the user setable EQ with bass all the way, mid at 0 and high all the way up. I think those speakers could play at 160 or 170 watts more than 140. I think that it has the power of about 120 watts a channel, but the extra juice handles the extra bass at times. This is a great stereo for the average house or just for a party!! I am getting it on June 22nd for my graduation!!! Great stereo. buy it!!
