A great 20-incher

Pros Flat screen, 3 viewing modes, 2 S-video inputs
Cons If only it had a component input!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you only have room for a 20-inch TV, this one has a plethora of features and a great picture.
My only regret about this TV: not getting the bigger, 24-inch version. I didn't think I had the room, so I picked up this TV in November 2000 as an open-box special. For only being a 20-inch TV, this one has some very cool features.

Two S-video inputs are a big draw for me. One is on the front, which, though nice, isn't very useful for me. I'd rather have two in back, as it would be ugly cable-wise to have one permanently hooked up to the front. Also on the front are standard video-in jacks, which are very useful for those (like me) who have game systems to hook up and don't always want to be turning the thing around to plug them into the back.

I have a Sega Dreamcast that I use on it often, and the game picture looks very good. One reason for this is because of this TV's 'game' mode. It is one of three modes (normal, cinema, game) that can bring out a better picture for the choice at hand. When viewing movies and choosing the cinema mode, for example, the screen brightens considerably. I've found this helps much when watching DVDs, but not as much when watching movies on broadcast television (a bit too bright).

This TV also feature's Aiwa's 'Q-surround' sound, which simulates surround sound using the TV's built-in stereo speakers and 7 watts of power. I've found this feature only makes much of a difference when you're sitting close to it. (But who wants to do that; after all, mom was right -- sit too close and it will melt your brain.)

And if you're still debating the whole flat-screen decision, I make no qualms; watch a flat-screen for a while and you will never want to go back to traditional. I saw these TVs recently going for $300 new, which is what I paid for an open-box version. It's a bit pricey for a 20-incher, but if you're looking for a quality one, spend the extra dough. You'll be glad you did.
