Maybe AIWA is better now...

Pros sound quality
Cons lifetime short
Recommended it? No
I don't have this particular cd player, however, I would like to give a different opinion of a previously made AIWA cd player.

I received a three disc player three years ago. Maybe things have changed in the AIWA manufacturing plant, or maybe, this current cd player is fantastic and much improved, but I have to say that the life of the older cd player was cut short at year two.

The motor, I suppose, died and the cd player now has trouble reading cd's. That is, when I put a cd in, it will skip over it because it does not think that I have a cd in.

I never dropped the player, never stuck glue in the eye of the cd player, never left the tray open. Just one day when it was two years old, it decided to stop reading my cd's.

The funny thing is is that if I had kept the warranty I would have been able to return it for something else. You might be thinking, "Well now, she has a lemon".

Wrong again. When my cd player stopped reading cd's I remembered how in my freshman year of college my roommate had the exact same AIWA player. She often let me listen to her radio, which had better speakers (because, let's face it AIWA does have great sound quality), however I never played cd's in it.

Soon there after, she accused me of breaking her cd player - - it wouldn't read her cd's anymore. I had nothing to say except, "I didn't break ytour cd player". She, luckily, had just bought it and returned it along with receipt and warranty (and never fully trusted me after that).

These events have made me wary of AIWA. If you choose to buy a cd player from this company, I would definitely keep that warranty and read all the fine print.

If you want something that will last a real "lifetime", you may want to move along.
