Quality product, poor design
Pros
Crisp picture, great sound
Cons
bulky battery, short life
Recommended it?
Yes
The AIWA XD-DW1 has a beautiful crisp picture and the sound is out of this world, especially if you use good headphones. It is less expensive than the comparable Panasonic L-50, and it comes with a cable that attaches to your television.
On the negative side, it doesn't seem that much thought was put into the design. The battery is bulky and makes the player awkward looking. It is not a lithium-ion, and therefore, it has to be fully drained before you can recharge it. Battery life is not that great. The movie starts to falter after about an hour, although the battery is not drained.
The remote that comes with the unit is so huge it's almost funny. It's bigger than the remote controls for my TV! Since I was looking for something compact, the remote just doesn't seem to go with the whole thing.
If you can live with the negatives I have described and are mainly concerned with picture quality and sound, along with a decent price, then, I say, "go for it", otherwise, I think you'll be a bit disappointed.
