My first Aiwa product
Pros
Sleek design,nice remote
Cons
Cheap headphones, poor initial fitment
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Better than its competition! Good ergonomics and sound performance, but replace the cheap headphones ASAP!
Although normally a big Sony fan, I omitted them from my choices because of the AVLS feature (automatic volume limiting system).
The player at first try seemed to have a habit of popping open unintentionally. This subsided after some use. Perhaps just needed to work in.
The memory buffer is adjustable from 48 seconds to 12 seconds, to off. I opt for the 12 second memory and find it to work well. The manual states that battery life will be extended with the 48 second buffer, but that sound will be degraded.
The headphones are cheap. Reproduce very poor bass, but are the typical caliber for most units. Replace as soon as you can!
Sound is good, again, headphones make the difference. The DSL or bass booster muddies the music I listen to; it may not do that on your choices.
The unit comes with accessories for using in your car. The standard cigarette lighter power adapter, cassette interface, and the remote control. Remote is nice and wafer thin, but rather useless if you strictly employ as a portable device.
