Aiwa XR-M55 nice looking, decent sound
Pros
looks nice
Cons
doesn't get really loud
Recommended it?
Yes
I used to work at Sears electronics and the Aiwa XR-M55 was one of the best sellers. In fact we sold so many that most of the time it was out of stock and many irate customers would come back and pester us on when we would get some in.
For a small system it had a decent amount of power ? 60 watts total which came out to 22 watts for each left and right sub, and 8 for each main speaker. Considering the size it got decently loud, but if you plan to have parties with more than 10 people, this is entirely the wrong system.
Most people purchased it because the sound was nice, it looked cool, and the price, $200, did not break their bank.
Aside from the single disc player it only has one tape deck and bunch of difficult to use presets. Although it does not rely on the remote, to get to some of the presents you needed to press some buttons and then turn some other knobs that controlled another function before you pressed the first few buttons.
From what I saw people ended purchasing this for their office or other location where looks is as important as sound.
