I returned it twice.
Since my old Aiwa pooped out on me I decided to buy a new one. This time around I didn't have much money to buy a super nice system. My goals were clear. The new system had to be small, powerful, and clear. I was not put off by the fact that I could only insert one CD at a time as my old Aiwa had... Read full review »
Aiwa XR-M55 nice looking, decent sound
I used to work at Sears electronics and the Aiwa XR-M55 was one of the best sellers. In fact we sold so many that most of the time it was out of stock and many irate customers would come back and pester us on when we would get some in.

Price and sound were most important in my decision. Since many mini-bookshelf systems don't include a tape deck anymore, being able to play... Read full review »
Flaw in CD function
BE WARNED!. . .The aiwa xr-m55 has a flaw in the CD function. When using Direct Play (going directly to a specific song, instead of starting with song #1 and letting the CD play through to the end) the first half second of a track gets cut off. This was a painful discovery. I was careful to check... Read full review »
Could be better
The Aiwa XR-M55 is a nice little compact system. But the problem about that is it can be too small in a big room or house. It is also very expensive. Seems to me it would be smarter to get something that is bigger and maybe better and slightly more expensive. That way you are actually getting what... Read full review »
