Great Sound Outweighed by Horrid Display, Controls, EQ
I decided to buy Alpine despite my intense dislike for their products' excitingly chunky "Dig Me - Steal Me" appearance (though they're certainly not alone in that fault.) Their HUs simply have the best S/N specs and reputation for skip-free CD play for the price.

Nice player not without flaws
I bought the CDA-9827 recently. The player sounds very nice except for some
annoyances, and here are my opinions on this player for anyone that may be

ipod not recognized a year later
i bought this unit for the sole purpose of listeing to my ipod over the car speakers. It seemed like an economical choice at the time at 250 bucks from tweeter. Unbelievably solid sound quality, handsome deck, great price
I was thinking of upgrading to a 12 disc changer, then i saw this unit at a store and thought if i got this i could still use my old changer (you only get around 110 songs on 6 cds compared to 170 mp3s on just 1 cd), plus i get a new head unit and I save some money too. disappointing receiver
I got this receiver because it was cheap ($260 at crutchfield) and had 4volts preamp outs. I didn't think too much of EQ's and DSP's. Boy was I wrong. overall a great deck!
a great cd player, the mx booster is cool but if you have a sub its not good because the cd player cant back up what its trying to put out. Love it for the price!
This is a great system for the price. If anyone expects more then they should expect to pay $400 or $500 for the other models, which give you the ability to set the display color and brightness or equalizer customization.
The only thing I don't like…and maybe it's because I'm a dummy...

Alpine builds quality and this unit is no exception
I have owned this head unit for a little over a year. The truth is that many of the features I don't make use of or can't safely make use of while driving because the deck is a bit complex.
