The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this deck to anyone, buy one now!
I'm kind of a nut when it comes to car audio, gotta have the best for my system as I hate when stuff sounds distorted. I was struggling with my older Alpine cda-7894 deck which was getting really worn out, buttons starting to fade, so I decided to look for a new deck. First I was looking at one of the newer 2005 Alpine decks but I was kinda turned off by there lack of 4v outputs on many of the models. So then I went ahead and bought Pioneer Premier's top model the deh-960mp, only owned it for about 4 days because I could never get it installed correctly, I tried absolutely everything and the deck still had engine noise. So finally, I went back to my roots and traded in that expensive deck for one of these older 2004 Alpine models.
This deck had everything I wanted, 3 sets of 4v outputs, dot matrix display, 6 band parametric eq, 3 way crossover, time correction, and most of all, it played mp3/wma files on cd. One thing that always brings me back to Alpine is the quality, the deck is solid built and doesn't feel all "plasticy" like the various Pioneer models I have played with, also the ease of use factor is a major concern, this one is so easy to operate. I absolutely love decks with rotory knobs, and this one works perfectly. I quickly shoved in a mp3 disc when I got this deck and noticed that it read my mp3's a lot faster than my older Alpine, along with the fast forward being faster seeking and the switching between folders on the cd a lot easier. Audio clarity was increased between my old deck as the front's now sound more defined and the lows hit a lot harder. The parametric EQ is the highlight of this deck, it lets you adjust many frequencies on 6 channels a boost or cut of + or - 5, which makes fine tuning really easy. The quality on the fm radio is also very very clear, I was amazed. This deck being XM ready is a nice factor even though I have yet to test mine with it, it looks like it would be nice to have. I have yet for either of my Alpine decks to skip once, they are excellent for that. Theres simply so much that this deck offers that it's hard to list it all.
Overall if you have the money to dish out on this deck and want superb audio clarity along with solid build quality of a car headunit, you should really look into this deck or any deck made by Alpine for that matter.
