I bought one of these thinking it was truly "iPod ready," meaning I could do everything I could with my iPod. You can't. The most glaring problem is in the "search" mode, which doesn't actually search at all. Turning the volume knob allows you to view the folders, songs or authors, but only one... at... a... time... If you have a lot of songs, it could take you hours to find the one you want. Also, the first time I plugged in my iPod, it fried the browse feature on the iPod itself and I had to reinstall iTunes. Fortunately, no songs were lost. Other annoying features: the clock is permanently in 24 hour mode (21:36) and doesn't display if you're looking at song titles. In some displays, you can't turn off the animation, which looks cool until you get tired of it. Especially the dripping water or waves, whcih inspire frequent bathroom breaks. Sound quality is pretty good, but there's a lot of button pushing to get it to do everything you want. Definitely first generation and the only game in town. If you want true iPod compatibility, I would recommend you buy one of the $20 iPod FM broadcast units and use the iPod UI until a better product comes along.
