Alpine Pleasures

Pros Sound Quality, Amp, Design (looks), AUX input
Cons Design (menu systems), Flip-Down face to load CDs can break easily
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Alpine is car audio- that's what they do, and they do it best!
My last few car decks were kenwood and pioneer and I dug the sound quality on both.

I wanted one with a front slot load, NOT a flip down or auto-flip because I've had decks break from the moving parts. Alpine didn't offer a front slot load at this price level, but I took it anyway. It flips 90 degrees to load the CD, but not all the way around like kenwood models.

Sound quality is very solid, I use really good alpine after market speakers and the deck plays very loud and clean. Right now I'm on four 5x7 speakers and plan to add a SUB.

Design is WAY pretty. The blue source buttons look great at night and main LCD is VERY good looking. The base color and frame are so dark grey its almost black, and I LOVE black.

The menu system is NOT easy to navigate. My big complaint is the deck's use of too many buttons doing similar things. The menus are poorly layed out, and the buttons are just NOT good to change settings for audio properties.

This model lets you add an IPOD INPUT, using a proprietary digital cable, and you can control the IPOD from the deck. I chose to go with just an AUX 1/8 inch stereo input. The installer added the input to my center console so I can add any device, IPOD, MP3 Player, Walkman, Etc.

Overall this is a TOP NOTCH mid-priced deck. Sound quality and value for my money are important to me - i'm satisfied.
