Gourmet Meat and Potatoes.
Pros
Powerful, clean, Digital Time Correction for speaker placement, bass control, separate bass pre-out.
Cons
The motorized faceplate is the most mechanically unsound component on the device. Expensive.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
If you want to control every nuance of your subwoofers from the front seat and have sonic control over all speaker's frequencies, then get the Alpine CDA 7892.
Well, the unit certainly looks good. The motorized faceplate (3 positions) is useless. While the faceplate is tilted, you can't read the screen because the digital viewing angle doesn't change along with the plane.
Other than that, I'm blown away by the quality of the sound and features. This is one of those times that if you spend just that little bit more, you get what you really want. This unit has 3 sets of pre-outs. That means not only can you hook up your vehicle's harness to the APN CDA7892 for 25W RMS, 50W peak, 105db, but you can use two of the pre-outs to send two separate clean, un-amplified signals to your power amp(s) (5-20KHZ). The fun starts from there because not only are there frequency adjustments on your power amplifier, but the APN CDA7892 lends it's own assortment of frequency alterations for both Hi and Low frequencies respectively. Not to mention you can easily sonically "move" each speaker to their optimum listening distance/position via a powerful time delay effect. This thing made my stock speakers sound like Rockford Fosgate's best.
GOT A SUB-BOX? The APN CDA7892 is the CD player for you. There's a reason why there's only 2V of power allotted for the Front and Rear speakers. That's because the APN CDA7892's third pre-out is no ordinary pre-out. It's a separate Sub pre-out, featuring frequency, loudness, speaker position, etc...
XM ready, wireless remote, MP3s, dimmer line, 1yr parts and labor. This thing gets me excited to go for a drive.
