ALPINE CHM-S630 - Good Choice For A Car CD Changer
Pros
Slim, Easy To Mount
Cons
Capacity Only 6-Disc
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Good Changer Despite Low Capacity.
The worst thing while driving, other than crappy drivers, is having to change the CD you're listening to. So...the easiest solution? A CD changer of course! Save a few bucks and head down to your local car audio shop and pick one up. The CHM-S630 is a pretty good choice.
Let's have a look...
The CHM-S630
The slim CHM-S630 is a compact 6-disc changer. The S630 features 8X oversampling which ensures perfect playback. It also features Alpine's DT mechanism, which has been redesigned over previous models, which allows quick silet CD loading. In addition to the 8X oversampling Alpine developed a self-calibrating electronics and dampers to ensure that you CDs don't skip. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but my music doesn't skip so I'm good to go! I've gone down some bumpy dirt roads and I've never had a problem with CDs skipping.
Probably one of the best features is that the CHM-S630 can be installed virtually anywhere. It's slim size allows it to fit in your glove box, armrest, or even under a seat (0-90 degree mounting). The suspension used in the S630 has silicon oil dampers to fight vibration. This is much more convenient than mounting it in your trunk. You shouldn't have to worry about the Alpine being compatible with your CD receiver, Alpine uses technology that makes it work with nearly any unit.
The S630 plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs, which means it'll play MP3s. This means with 6 discs you'll rarely have to change discs.

Final Say
You'll find the Alpine CHM-S630 will work well for you. It's simple to use there's nothing fancy to work on it as long as you know how to use your CD receiver. You'll probably want to have it professionally installed. The instructions are simple enough to follow but to make sure things are done right, specifically the wiring - professional installation is the way to go. This is a pretty straight forward product. There's not a lot to say about it. Personally, if you're a big music buff and have tons of CDs I'd recommend looking into a larger capacity changer. Sony makes a few good ones.
This is a good changer.
Thanks!
