Altec Lansing ACS 295

I bought these speakers from Egghead.com when they were refurbished. I think I made a big mistake. When I got them and plugged them in they sounded great. That subwoofer ROCKS! I mean, the power in them can really blow you away if you're a serious gamer or if you just like to use them for MP3s.

However, when they aren't in use but are on, they make this horrible incessant crackling sound. Sometimes it gets so bad that you have to simply turn them off and use them only if you want to use them.

Apparently Altec does not properly test their products when they are sent back to their factories. When I called up their customer service department, they were reluctant to have me ship it without knowing that a replacement set was going to cost me RETAIL price.

This says one thing about buying refurbished products. Always fill out that warranty slip that comes with your products. Those things are vital when you buy anything for that matter since you never know if the product is going die on you.

Anyway, so these speakers rock when they're on and in use (Especially the subwoofer). The crackling disappointed me when I got them though.

Overall: Great if you buy them new! Beware if they're refurbished though.
