LOUD bang for the buck ;)
Pros
inexpensive but very effective
Cons
none
Recommended it?
Yes
I purchased the Altec Lansing ACS 295 speakers about nine months ago for my new Dell Dimension computer (which, by the way, I also really like and feel like I got a good price for). But the speakers ... what can I say?
I really can't get the volume beyond halfway of its potential because it gets so loud that my walls and desk shake ... but the quality is still phenomenal! I also tend to watch DVDs from my computer now (rather than on a big-screen TV with a DVD player) because the sound from my Altec speakers tend to be better than my actual surround sound speakers for my television.
Very, very reasonable price also (I think I paid $149 for the speakers when I purchased my Dell Computer) ...
Definitely, if I had one hint to give if purchasing a new computer system ... don't scrimp on cheaper speakers. These Altec Lansing speakers, ESPECIALLY for the price, make game-playing and movie-viewing much more enjoyable and realistic.
