Definately worth the cash

Pros cheap, great sound, nice design
Cons sub volume control inconvenient to get to
Recommended it? Yes
I was lucky enough to have the option of upgrading my speakers when I purchased my desktop just over a year ago. Needless to say, I jumped all over that oppotunity and got the ACS 44 Altec Lansings. What a joy it has been!

As a long time user of 2d sub-10 watt powered computer speakers, I was astounded at how good the quality of sound was from these little cubes. They are smaller than my previous speakers, but they pump an impressive amount of sound. . .much like the Bose speakers. I listen to my MP3s on it more than I actually turn on my stereo anymore because the sound quality is so good.

The sub puts out enough bass so that you can feel it during a rousing game of Quake or BattleTech, but lacks frequency control. The volume control is inconvenient as well because it is on the back of the sub. Most people are going to put the sub on the floor or in some out-of-the-way place, so getting to the volume can be a hassle, especially since the sub works independently of the two speakers.

It is easy to set up and understand, and about the only thing I can think of as a negative is the sub (for reasons I mentioned above). The price, design, quality, and functionality of the entire system makes it easily one of the best-for-your-money speaker sets out there. I highly recommend it.
