Cons
Roomates telling you to turn it down
Recommended it?
Yes
I received this speaker set for Christmas last year. I wanted the ACS48 but I was happy with what I got. After hooking this bad boy up and playing it with most of my pc games, I knew there was only one thing missing. A sound card equal to the clarity and precision that these speakers were putting out. I could literally blast these speakers in my room point them at my window and have my MP3's playing while I was in my backyard. They are so clear. The stereo imaging that is produced is fantastic. Now with my Sound Blaster Live! sound card these rock.
I use this for MP3 music, my DVD movies and PC games. I'm sorry but the speakers that came with my Gateway were good but they lacked bass. So I wanted a seperates system. I thought that since my Home theatre had used seperates and a sub woofer that I would be able to get the sound I was used to with my home theatre. You know what I was right. The sub in the system is so good. I have hard wood floors and placed the sub under my desk. in the foot well. The bass resonated throughout the room. I often had my roomate tell me to turn it down.
The best thing though would be the size of the sattlelite speakers, small cubes that produce clean flavorful sound. I ended up going to the local hardware store and buying some velcro strips and attached the speakers to my monitor. Good space saving idea for dorm life while still producing good stereo imaging.
The price is a steal compared to other brands for around the same price. Most other brands (Labtec) get a fuzzy distorted sound when turned up, may be because the speakers were blown because of the bass cut off, not sure. If you think your speakers are lacking power and bass, your probably right, to cure this buy the 45.2 Altec Lansing speaker system. Oh by the way, don't buy the 45.1's because they have less WATTS, the higher wattege helps produce cleaner precise sound. Im out!
