These speakers from altec are some of the best speakers for a computer besides the ones that cost over $200. I got these in August of '99, and these are awesome! There are 2 highs for treble, and then the subwoofer. The power the sub puts out is unbelievable. You would think it was an 8 or 10! But it is just a 6 1/2! I turn it up barley any, shut my door, and walk into the living room, and i can easily hear and feel the bass!

Another thing i love about them is that the subwoofer has its own volume control. This is great for me, because when my dad comes home he hates bass and loud music, so i just turn down the bass, but i can still leave the treble on as loud. Amd you can't hear a thing!

At just $80, these would be great starter speakers for anyone! I have heard better, but just in stores. I have never seen a $200 set of speakers in a house with the equalizer, and many speakers. I believe that is because everyone is very satisfied, along with me, with these speakers. You can get them from any local computer/appliance store in your area such as Best Buy, Circuit City, or any others!

These speakers work with and new system, and can be installed with out a new sound card, in which you would probably have to with anything bigger. Sometimes it sounds like they may have busted after you have turned it up to loud on accident, but don't worry, this will go away within an hour!
