Altec Lansing 65i and 66i, get it, plug it, blast it!
Pros
Great bass, rich treble and BOOM BOOM for sub-$100 price range. Powerful wood subwoofers at 27 Watts, wood is good because it ensures good bass without distortions.
Cons
No treble knob and costly if you don't need such a powerful subwoofer, most new iMACS come with Harmon Kardon speakers, it's a waste to get these over those.
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought a set of these at Buy.com last last week. My model is 66i but the specs are the same, 27 Watt (POWERFUL) subwoofers, 13 Watt (RICH) satellites. However, the 66i comes with 5 different other snap on colors to match up with your iMAC.
Anyway, I got these speakers for my PC, it works on PC and I turned it about 1/4 way up and the bass all the way up. I was amazed that the satellites pumped out more power than my previous Creative Labs SB20s!
There is no treble knob, only bass on the subwoofer. However, the subwoofer is very, very strong for A.L. normal computer subs, usually, they're 17-20 Watts, maybe 25 but never 27. They're also wood so no distortions! I recommend this to anyone that listens to Trance, Techno, Hip Hop and other music that utilizes strong bass. For classical music seekers, these are NOT for you. I chose these because they were on sale for $30 at Buy.com.
Overall, these speakers are perfect, the subwoofer deserves 6 out of 5 stars. You gotta hear this with "ULTIMATE BASS TEST" to FEEL the power.
ENJOY AND GOOD LUCK!
