I recently bought a Dell system and chose the best option on speakers I could get. Through the magic of Dell's shipping methods, i received my THX Certified Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers with Dolby Digital capabilities before my computer. Anyway, once everything was set up, I was amazed with the bass the 8" subwoofer produced once set in an optimal position. To recieve best possible resonance, it is recommended that you place any computer subwoofer under your desk or a similar area and up against a wall. I had the perfect spot for that. I managed to upset the neighbors upstairs with the extreme bass that was produced and ultimately got a noise violation. Oh well. The satellite speakers produce clear highs and midrange frequencies with almost no noticeable distortion. I've maxed out the volumed and have never heard a crackle. The remote that comes with the 885 is also a nice feature; it works from a lot of angles and comes in handy when the phone rings. The rear satellite speakers can be attached to the front speakers or detached and placed seperately. The right front speaker has all the controls and a back lit digital display for several options such as StereoX2, Prologic, Dolby Digital, etc. These are nice speakers all around, get em if you like booming sounds to watch dvds on. Thanks for reading.
