not the ADA880--these are better

Pros great sound
Cons pricey
Recommended it? Yes

I have recently bought a new Dell Dimension and opted to upgrade the speakers to the ADA885 without reading epinions first.... I'm glad. The ADA885 are basically like an enhanced version of the ADA880. One of my friends has the ADA880 and I think the total wattage is like 70-80. The ADA885 are 120. These speakers are also more aesthetically pleasing with a cool S-curve when you convert them into 3 piece speakers. They are thunderously loud and contrary to some other opinions written about them, the clarity and sharpness is also unmatched on low volumes.

I recommend these speakers to anybody who can afford it. It's kind of pricey, almost 300 dollars. But especially to people who download mp3's and listen to their music from the computer.

I think that college people in dorms would especially benefit from these speakers. These small unobtrusive speakers will finally produce the sound that you crave in your dorms.

I had some trouble with the surround sound though. With my soundblaster live value card, the 3d surround sound lagged my gameplay in certain games. --but that is the sound card, not the speakers...so anyway--if you have the dough and crave super quality music, try the ADA885...I couldn't find this model # on the altec lansing website..its not the same as the ADA880.. Dell.com sells it with new computers, though.
