ADA 880 speakers ? can you really justify these?
I should have saved my money. I had two options for speakers for my new Dell Computer system and I decided to spend the extra bucks for the Dolby Digital Altec Lansing ADA880 speaker system.
It?s not that this set of speakers is bad or anything, it?s just that I don?t see much of a point...

Aged bulky styling, but packs quite the punch when playing digitally.
General Background Information:
I purchased the Altec Lansing ADA 880 for $20 at a garage sale and it is certainly one of the best sale finds I have discovered in a long while. The ADA 880 is a 4.1 speaker surround sound system that can be adapted for home theater or computer stereo use...

How can so much power sound so clear!
Overview
Altec Lansing is a name that's been around in audio for a long time. With a spotless history, anything with the Altec Lansing name on it is definitely worth a try. With these high expectations, and even higher hopes from my experience with their 495 series, I gave the 880R computer...

Without High-End Sound Card Don't Bother
I have read the other previous reviews on these speakers and just want to add my 2 cents worth.
First off the Good:
The speakers sound quality is extremely good, If and only if your using a very high-end Sound Card.
The 8" Subwoofer's bass output is thunderously...

If you like noise violations, get these-THX Certified baby!!
I recently bought a Dell system and chose the best option on speakers I could get. Through the magic of Dell's shipping methods, i received my THX Certified Altec Lansing ADA885 speakers with Dolby Digital capabilities before my computer. Anyway, once everything was set up, I was amazed with the... Read full review »
not the ADA880--these are better
I have recently bought a new Dell Dimension and opted to upgrade the speakers to the ADA885 without reading epinions first.... I'm glad. The ADA885 are basically like an enhanced version of the ADA880. One of my friends has the ADA880 and I think the total wattage is like 70-80. The ADA885 are...

Decent speakers, could be better for the price
I received these speakers back in April with my Dell computer system. Included is 2 mains, 2 satellites, and a ported subwoofer. I opted to purchase the more expensive speakers because I figured I would be doing a lot of gaming and watching DVDs. They are Dolby Digital speakers, and the DVD decoder... Read full review »
Good sound, cheap!
These are the speakers that got me addicted to audio! I bought these to attach to a DVD player, and hopefully enjoy some movies in dolby digital surround. With the surrounds turned up and the center channel turned slightly down, these speakers provide a great introduction to immersive dolby digital... Read full review »
These should have been great
Every thing about these speakers showed promise. I chose to replace my Altec 495s which I thought were a very nice sounding set of speakers with these due to the power and the ability to separate the surround speakers.
They come with more power and a bigger sub, they should be great I thought...

Let the BOOM BOOM BOOM carry you away!
Altec Lansing?s ADA880 speaker set has been out a while now, so why bother even looking at them? Don?t they have, newer, sleeker models to choose from? Yes, however, this dynamo of a speaker set is a must have for the Computer Owner who has is all - except REALLY GOOD set of speakers.
