The Bottom Line:
The ATP3's are great for anyone who is more concerned about the sound of their speakers than the power.
I bought these speakers to go along with a new HP computer i purchased about a month ago. It comes with speakers already, but i knew that they weren't a great pair. I decided to get the ATP3's because many people suggested them, and Altec Lansing has a reputation for having good speakers. Another reason i chose these speakers was for the fact that they matched my computer well. Most of the speakers out on the market today are white, so black is a nice change of pace, especially when it looks really good with your computer.
These speakers should fit on almost any computer desk thats out there. The desk that i currently have my computer on is 3 feet by 2 and 5/6 feet. I've seen a lot of other computer desks and from what I've seen most of them are much bigger than my desk, so you should have no problem with space on your desk. The sub is what takes up the most space. The sub alone is 12 inches by 8 inches. There is no way that i could fit the sub, the speakers and the computer on the desk, so the sub has a nice little seat underneath my desk where it stays all the time.
In my experiences with these speakers, the speakers seem to have much better sound quality than power. When i bought them i wasn't looking for power, i was looking for speakers that had excellent sound quality. I love listening to music and watching movies on my computer and these speakers are perfect for both of those things. These speakers are even excellent for playing games. I think you will notice the excellent sound quality more so while watching a movie or listening to music though.
For such small speakers, the ATP3 pack quite a punch. The sound quality is great, until you get the volume is at it's peak. When the volume is as loud as it will go, the music tends to get scratchy. If your the type of person who wants more power out of your speakers than sound quality, then the ATP3's aren't for you. If your a person who wants excellent sound quality for watching movies, playing games and listening to music, then these are perfect speakers.
