OK for Gamers!

Pros Looks Good!
Cons Subwoofer sounds distorted!
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Buy a 5.1 speaker system and avoid the ATP4 speaker system!
This 4.1 speaker system is OK for the Gamers! For the Music lovers or Dolby 5.1 lovers who want to watch a DVD on their computer will be disappointed in the distortion of the subwoofer.

The system consists of 4 satellite speakers and one subwoofer, this gives you a 4.1 system.

The 4 satellite speakers will give you a front left and right speaker and a rear left and right speaker. The subwoofer can be placed almost anywhere, under the computer desk out of sight is a good place to put it.

The controls for the volume, bass, treble and so on are located on one of the satellite speakers for easy control.

Games
For playing games the speakers produce plenty of Boom! Boom! from the subwoofer as long it is not turned up too high!

The four satellite speakers give you plenty of sound all the way around you from both sides to the front and rear.

Music
If you are head banging into Heavy Medal music the distortion of the subwoofer isn?t hardly noticed.

When you listen to a softer sound were the bass comes in you will hear the distortion come in. It is hard to explain what it sounds like but it doesn?t produce a good clean sound that most produce.

DVD Movies
For the DVD lovers you really need a 5.1 system to get the best sound out of your DVD movies. The 4.1 system misses the center speaker, which is the main speaker in a 5.1 system that produces the speech sound in movies.

Some of the Pluses for System
The satellite speakers look good, tall in a color of black measuring 9.5 inches high and 4.4 inches in width and depth. Each satellite speaker has two 28mm drivers (Full range) and one 3? midrange driver. The satellite speakers produce a clean sound without any distortion. The slim design makes placement easy in most places.

Installation is easy and simple with the color-coded cables and the markings on each speaker.

My Last Words!
The Altec Lansing ATP4 speaker system can be found for under $100 and over $150.

A friend of mine had this speaker system and he wasn?t happy with the sound so I go drafted to check it out. We determined the problem was the subwoofer after I hooked up an older one that he had to give it a rich sound. With the older subwoofer the distortion disappeared.

The subwoofer could have been a bad one, I don?t know. My friend didn?t want a replacement and went with a new Cambridge 5.1 system and is very happy with it. If anyone has else had any experience with the ATP4 speaker system leave me a comment if you had any of the same problems with the subwoofer.

If it wasn?t for the subwoofer the system has everything else going for it, because of the distorted subwoofer, I cannot recommend it.
