I am also the proud owner of a non-operational AMW DVD player. I will say that it is my stupidity for not looking more closely at the discount store I bought it at to see that the unit was being sold as-is (no warranty). However, the bottom line is that the unit worked for about two months (long enough to be outside of the store's warranty/return policy) and then the buttons on the unit stopped functioning, so we had to use the remote to work it. Then the battery life started to dwindle (was 2hrs when we bought it - now was down to 1.5 hrs fully charged). Then just yesterday the machine stopped reading discs. I did try to call the AMW TECH SUPPORT PHONE NUMBER, but it was DISCONNECTED with no alternate number to call. So, while this screw-job is partly a result of my lack of attention, the product sucks. I checked out the company's European/UK website (http://www.amw-europe.com - it is all I could find - nothing in the U.S.) and it doesn't look like offer support for the U.S. or even sell product here anymore. So, steer clear!
