The Bottom Line:
Great second TV or primary TV for someone on a budget!
I had been looking for a new TV to replace my 19" (and admittedly rather dated) TV, and was looking for either a high-quality spherical screen, or an inexpensive flat screen. Budget was a concern, as I didn't want to spend more than $250. I wanted a TV in the 24-27" range, so spent many an hour wandering the aisles of my local BestBuy. This TV was originally listed for $229, and recently dropped to $199. I was waiting a few more weeks to buy it, and it was put on sale for $149, and a $25 mail-in rebate was available on top of that. So, I snapped it up, along with a Toshiba DVD player and a set of component video cables. Took it all home and set it up, and couldn't be happier!
Picture quality is very good - not to the level of a Sony Wega, but that's to be expected for the price difference. Sound is very good - a bit on the loud side, actually. I tend to use my entertainment system for sound anyway, so that's not an issue.
The remote is my only complaint about this unit - it feels kind of cheap, and the button layout is a bit confusing. Channel/volume are large and easy to find, but other controls are a bit buried - buttons are all small and similarly sized, making it tough to find the one you want in the dark.
However - for $124 after rebate, this TV is a hard act to beat!
