Great price and high quality

Pros Great price, comparable quality, many video line-ins.
Cons Limited menu features, no brand appeal, remote not user-friendly.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Low-cost unit with comparable quality to leading brand names.
Box name: APEX Digital 24'' Premium Pure Flat Color TV

Overall Impression:
Besides this TV, I have television of other brands as well (ie Sony, Panasonic, Magnasonic)... I got this one for us while I'm living away from home. Compared to those other TV's, this one is of great value - there aren't many sacrifices made to quality. It can be comparable to many premium flat color TV's, there are many video line features (read below) and the shell looks almost as nice as the Sony WEGA. The remote isn't very user-friendly - but I have yet to encounter one that is well-designed!

Video
The video quality is impressive. Compared to other brands, the picture is clear and the tube is truly flat. There are 5 settings you can adjust (tint, brightness, contrast, color, sharpness - which can provide significant change to the signal) and an additional feature called Velocity Scan Modulation (there doesn't seem to be a big difference with this feature enabled).

Sound
Unit has good built-in panel speakers. You can adjust the settings how you like. The lowest volume setting isn't very low though, it seems like there should be another 3-4 notches between their 0 and 1 level.

Input/Output
Equipped with 1 Composite Video Input (Y-Cb-Cr), 2 S-Video Inputs, 3 Rear AV Inputs and an additional AV input on the side for easy access. Additionally, there is one rear AV output.

The memory on which line is selected isn't acceptable by my standards though. It forgets the line that you're using once you turn the unit off though. (i.e. Video1/Video2/DVD.. you have to press the button to switch lines if you turn off the TV.) This becomes a nuisance if you're using a video line (ie. Satellite TV). That said, having 5 input lines is incredible for a low-cost unit.

Languages/Parental Controls
- Equipped in trilingual OSD: English, Spanish, French
- Closed Captioning (easy-to-read font type)
- Built-in parental guide lock feature (not sure how this operates yet)

Remote Control
This piece is probably the most important factor for many people, but often gets overlooked. Although the quality of the TV unit is great, it is clear they cut costs in the production of the remote. It's of standard size, but the buttons aren't organized very well. You can't adjust to the remote right away because the 0-9 numbers aren't arranged in the standard 4 rows. The control is useful, however, as it is extendable to control other entertainment pieces (VCR, DVD, Satellite/Cable ... so called 'Universal').

Other
It didn't come with an built-in or attachable antenna - what gives? It would only cost them an additional $5? That said, this is an low-cost unit, so it's understandable.

Unit Information
Purchased: August 2004, Costco Canada
Problems Encounter: No problems so far. ^Knock on wood^

I have the same model, PF2425, but I'm not sure if the same model is different in the States, as it looks a little different than the posted image.
