KILLER Computer (Technical Review)

Pros Fast, Good Archetecture, Designed Carefully
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Very good, ubelievable speed, and great operating system.
This is the mother of all computers. Apple has pushed the limits of the computer industry again. The PowerPC G5 is a new 64bit processor produced by IBM. Becuase of the upgrade in processor from 32bit to 64bit many things about this computer were upgraded to keep up with the data highway. It is important to understand that just because the processor is fast it doesn't mean the entire computer is fast. This is where Apple kicks in.

Obviously most PC's have very high "Clock Speeds" (Mhz/Ghz Number) This 1.8 Apple computer obviously doesn't pack the same numbers as a 3Ghz Pentium...but yet it will still out preform the pentium. First off a pentium is a 32bit processor. Meaning it can only handle 1/2 of the information a 64 bit can. Also even if it was a 64bit processor it wouldn't make the PC faster because PC's run windows which is a 32bit operating system. Apples run "Panther" Mac OS 10.3 which has been optimized for a 64bit processor, and is capable of running a 32bit computer also. Another major difference is the archetecture of the processor....this gets very very compex but needles to say apple pulls in the lead again (if you doubt me go to apple.com and get the blue print of the prcessor for technical details). This affects the reliablilty and overal speed. Also the archetecture of the computer. When Apple began useing the G5 they rebuilt their entire computer with the fastest components available to keep up with the speed of the processor to eliminate bottlenecks. The fastest RAM on the market, the fastest I/O connections, fastest Data Ports, fastest PCI slots (PCI-X)....ect.

Useing this computer is like useing a brand new ferrari, you just can't reach it's limits
