Pros
Big screen. High resolution. Backlit keyboard. Great keyboard - easy and fast to type on.
Cons
Almost seems too big - but duh, it's a 17"-er.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
No matter what you think of Apple - you will NEVER look back after you switch. It's no wonder it's such a cult! I love it!
I spent a lot of time battling back and forth between the 15" and the 17" screen. I really wanted the compactness of the 15" but wanted the screen real estate of the 17". I'm so glad I went with the 17".
I bought this machine because I do a lot of programming and needed not only the resolution but the portability of a high-end quick machine. Because of what I do, I wish I would have put in more than 2GB of RAM. I am most likely in the minority here as I'm sure that more than enough for most anyone.
This machine has been a true joy to use. Every facet of the machine has had a lot of thought put into it. The MacBook Pro is a completely different experience - especially when you're coming from the PC side. You can tell Apple cares about the end-user experience. I can't say enough good things about this machine!
The machine feels solid. It's well refined. It's quite elegant in every way. Prime example: it's late at night right now, my lights are off in my room and there's a faint glow behind each key (you can turn the key brightness up or down mind you). Apple is the company that comes up with stuff like that - probably because they WANT to use the stuff they create. Other companies, I don't think they really care.
