Best laptop I've EVER had
Pros
Powerful, sleek, compact, great battery, good screen, excellent keyboard, wireless
Cons
Gets REAL hot in your lap to the point of being uncomfortable to type on
Recommended it?
Yes
Being a former PC only-user this was my first Macintosh. I got it because it was the best laptop I found, at this price point. The 4 hour battery, true sleep mode, durable aluminum casing, slot-loading CD/DVD, and of course bluetooth and wireless, were all factors in my purchase decision.
I upgraded the RAM to 768 MB, however the 256 MB provided proved to be sufficient for daily use. The screen is bright and crisp, and the keyboard is a dream to type on. The wireless range is excellent, and very handy.
The battery seems to go for eternity. I can literally take my Powerbook to school, use it all day in each class, and come home with 40% charge left. This is of course, because every few minutes when I stop using it, it dims the screen, then shuts it off, and then eventually falls asleep. The power management is excellent.
I have heard the iBook is even more durable and has an even better battery life. For students, perhaps the iBook is a better option. That said however, I absolutely LOVE my Powerbook and would recommend it to anybody seeking this range of notebook computer.
