Polished and straightforward interface, fast machine in one of the most stylish and designed laptops out there.
Let's face it. I want to mix some sound, play guitar, make some dvd movies.
I've tried all this on my wife's WinXP laptop. It barely works, and the software doesn't click with me.
Last year, I sold my Quicksilver G4 because it was a bit too slow and wasn't sure if should get a mac again.
But, walked into a Apple store the other week and got stunned.
After 3 or some years of Apple perfecting OSX and 1.33 ghz in this laptop, there's no speed issues anymore.
This 12 inch latop comes with what you ask for: 5 hours of battery time, dvd burner, useful keyboard, speed, the works.
Apples iLife suite is basically their Pro version scaled down for couch use.
You'll get iDVD: dvd authoring, iMovie: movie editing, iPhoto: picture editing and Garageband: a soft synth/sampler.
Garageband is a story in itself. Plug in your electric guitar to your mac and you.
The 12 inch get a bit warm at times. Apple uses the titanium case as a heat disspator. The fan doesn't spin up too often. This translates to a very quiet laptop!
A small latop means small speakers. Plug in your headphones instead.
Airport Extreme (802.11g) is standard on all powerbooks.
I get most of the connectors I need:
2 USB ports, 1 firewire, external monitor, ethernet.
I got mine with SuperDrive, Apples name for DVD burner.
The latop isn't ultra thin. A IBM thinkpad feels half the thickness,
but you don't have the option of getting dvd burner in the case.
Without going into why OSX works better for you, the only thing I can say is, OSX works better for me.
Spend 5 minutes on OSX in your computer store and you'll see why!
Some people say that apple is expensive. Buy a comparable IBM Thinkpad (X series) and you'll land in the same region.
