Nothing Better
Pros
Mac Book is light weight, easy to use, and attractive. It makes working fun.
Cons
It is expensive. I found it for about $999.00-2,500.00 online.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
This portable device has a long battery life, durability, simplicity, but does not compromise on power and versatility. You'll be glad you made change from a PC to a Mac.
The Product: 2.0 GHz 13-inch Mac Book
After having a Dell XPS m1530 for several years, I switched to the 2.0 GHz 13-inch Mac Book. I have been in seventh heaven. I cannot even begin to tell you how passionate I am about this device since the day I got it. It has been a very welcomed change. I cannot imagine ever buying any other brand of laptop in the future.
Convenience:
I think the most noticeable difference is the fact that I leave my home, with only the Mac Book. I do not need to bring any wires, charger, bundled chords or cables, not even... my wireless mouse. I just slide it in my very small bag and off I go. The size and weight plus the battery life, makes it so convenient to carry anywhere. I get 4 - 5 hrs straight from my Mac book, more than enough time to be away from an area with an electrical outlet.
Positive Features:
I am currently attending school on-line and this computer has help out tremendously. I do a lot of research as well as writing which entails several applications open at a time. I use Microsoft Word; I have several tabs of Firefox as well and Internet Explorer. One great aspect of this computer is, even though I have several applications open, the system does not lag. It downloads the pages very quickly.
The Keyboard and track pad are very easy to use. The keyboard is very easy to use, as it has raised keys. It is also very effectively designed to allow its usage with out without accidentally touching the track pad. The multi-functionality of the track pad, makes work look like play. Zooming, scrolling, switching between windows or applications, rotating pictures to name a few, all done by sliding your finger or a combination of fingers on the track pad.
The screen/display is striking. There is no need to be directly in front of the screen as things are very visible from the sides. The colors are very vivid and true to form. The display adjusts to the amount of lighting in the area. I think this an excellent feature.
The operating system is graphically based. I do not need to be a genius to have an idea what that picture is saying or where it is directing me to go. Most of the technical and complicated information has been removed or hidden so all I see are icons. To install or uninstall an item, all I have to do is simply drag the icon in the appropriate location. I love the ease of having the options available to change the background and colors of the names under the icons. I also need to mention that you can run windows on this system as well. This means you can run two operating systems. Totally amazing.
I love the dashboard. As the name suggests, it provides quick easy access to many things on the system.
Last of all this is the easiest computer to clean of any, I have ever had. The glass screen and the aluminum casing just wipes clean as a whistle with a little water.
Negative Features:
There are not many negatives with this computer but there are a few. The USB ports are placed ridiculously close to each other. It is nearly impossible to have two things connected at the same time. I am sure it was deliberately designed this way to get us to purchase the other little gadgets. It only supports one stereo output straight off the book. Again, an additional device is needed.
After about an hour of continuous use, it will start to get hot. The internal fan will kick on, but it is not loud. This is ideal for enclosed spaces such as a cubical.
Apple offers a 12 month warranty. Warranty service for repairs are available at no charge for twelve months from the date of purchase.
I am still learning the operating system, but I am seeing there is not much that can be done to customize the overall look of the system. I am sure there is more that I need to learn.
Last of all and unfortunately; it is more expensive than other PCs. This can be a huge draw back for those on a tight budget..
