The Bottom Line: BUY, BUY, BUY!!!!! This computer can't be beat for the money. Mac's are painfully easy to use & problem-less, and the new Mac Pro continues on with this tradition.

This is my third Mac (#1 was the original Bondi iMac, #2 was my 450mhz gray G4 that I owned for 7 years!), and I couldnt be more satisfied!!!! The machine is beyond fast, and worked flawlessly right out of the box. I bought the base model direct from Apple, but upgraded to 2GB RAM & a 500GB hard drive. Moving my files from my old G4 was a snap; they include instructions, but basically it was hooking a Firewire cable between the two boxes, a couple of keystrokes, then watching & waiting for the transfer.

I won't go into every nuance of the machine, but I can tell you that, while it seems expensive, IT'S WORTH IT! Easy to access innards for the tech-savvy who like to update hardware themselves, a wonderful feeling keyboard, and a silent cooling/fan system. In fact, the fan is so quiet, you wont even know that the machine is on. The only noise comes from the relatively noisy hard drive, which sounds like it's grinding a pound of coffee beans as it works. At least it lets you know that it's working! The new Mac Mighty Mouse? Throw it in the trash or use it to fling at squirrels, because it just plain stinks. No professional or frequent user will want to even look at it.

Finally, and I swear that this is true, the day the machine was to be delivered by FedEx, a representative from Apple called me just to see how I liked my new machine!!!! As it hadn't been delivered yet, I couldnt comment, so he left me his name & phone number so that I could contact him in case I had any questions or problems! Never before have I experienced such a level of customer service follow-up...even after purchasing a new car. Way to go, Apple!!!!

In conclusion: Pry out the checkbook, mortgage the house....but JUST GET ONE!
