Trusty, stable Mac, extremely easy to add ram, new processors, etc. A great work horse.

The Bottom Line:
Great Mac. Destine to become legend : ) Stable and now quite affordable for home/ light business/ graphic use. Upgradable. Blue G3 is real trooper as older Macs go.
I believe these Macs were known as "Yosemite" the blue mountain. I just love my Bluey G3 Mac! My model has a built in Zip Drive and DVD/CD. It not a perfect computer, but it's a good stable work horse at this point if you are willing to forgo OS X. This Mac without major add-ons tops out at 400 mHz. This is not speedy in todays world, but was great when in 1999. OS X on this Mac will bring speed to a crawl. Sure, OS X CAN work on a souped-up version of a blue G3, but you'd do better opting for a G4 or 5!
It is a great computer for a medium level user or a home user who wants net and basic graphics capability. It is a tower therefore everything is easy access due the design -- it is an easy Mac to add ram, PCI slots, internal modems etc. It's easily upgradeable! I would prefer this old standby over an earlier I-Mac or E-Mac any day. The blue Yosemite tower G3 much easier to work on, if needed and is far more stable.
Unlike the all-in-one E-I-Macs where you have a built in monitor, the G3 does not come with a monitor. But you can get a monitor easy enough without the hassles of the one piece units when they break down. It's a breeze to connect various prereferals with the USB connection, just add a hub for more connectivity. Plus the PSI slot openings are ample (I think you get three) for SCSI devices you might still have laying around!
Opt for the models which have the larger 10-12 MEG hardrives and the 400 Mhz processor. Watch out for rising ram prices as this model is getting old and ram harder to find.
